Our hands handle every chore for us, right from cleaning the dishes to feeding the family; we perform all the functions with their help. And to make things worse, we wash them frequently to keep them clean and away from dirt. Then all this leads to dry hands that appear like they belong to someone older than your age. Are you also looking for ways to keep them soft without shelling out money at expensive parlors? Well, help is right here…

Remedies for soft hands:

One Minute Palm Scrub

You need 1 tablespoon olive oil and 1 tablespoon sugar for the treatment. Simply put the sugar on the palm. Pour olive oil and begin massaging your hands in a gentle circular motion. Do this for at least 2 minutes and then leave for another 5 minutes to let the ingredients do their magic. Rinse off with warm water and pat dry. And that’s it! Your hands would feel so smooth that you wouldn’t stop touching them.

Overnight Treatment

Vaseline and a pair of cotton socks is all you need for that. Night is the best time for healing the skin of your hands as you are at rest and not doing any stuff.  So, once you are done with your work, wash your hands and pat dry. Now apply the needed amount of Vaseline to your hands (both inwards and outwards). Massage gently including your cuticles. Once the Vaseline is absorbed, put on cotton socks and go to bed. You can also use fabric gloves or not use anything at all. Wake up soft hands every day.

Citrus Power to Rescue

This homemade treatment will not just soften hands, but also lighten the skin to give you amazing results. You need 2 tablespoon lemon juice, 2 tablespoon honey and 2 tablespoon baking soda for this. And here is the procedure to follow: wash your hands with gentle cleanser and pat dry, mix all the ingredients together and apply it directly onto your hands. Now massage gently for a minute or so and leave it on for another 10-15 minutes. Wash your hands with lukewarm water afterwards. Remember not to use soap directly after following this treatment. Repeat this twice a week to get rid of discoloration and get healthy looking hands.

Some useful tips to follow:

  • Always wear protective gloves while handling the washing stuff
  • Never sleep without putting on a hand cream as night time is the best to heal dryness and promote healthy looking hands
  • Always keep a moisturizer handy mainly when you are frequently traveling to keep the dryness under control on the go
  • Eat foods rich in vitamins and minerals to manage a healthy looking skin
  • Drink enough water every day as dehydration leads to dry skin problems
  • Protect your hands from sun’s harmful rays by slathering on sunscreen
  • Avoid using hot water as it leads to opening of the skin pores, which might lead to various skin issues including extreme dryness and wrinkles. On the other hand, too cold water is not good too. It might pale out skin and make it look discolored by breaking the tiny capillaries under your skin, so watch out for that as well!

Follow these suggestions and show your hands that you care!
